Overview

The ColdStream Keynoting Program is an AutoCAD VBA application that runs with AutoCAD 2002 - 2006.  The Keynoting Application provides the user with a keyed notes system utility that is simple and easy to use.  All Keynoting functions are driven from a pull-down menu that may be added to your current pull-down menus.  The application may also be operated through keyboard macros that are provided.  The utility automates the annotation process during construction document preparation.

Editing the master database to add or revise keyed notes requires the use of Microsoft Access.

Key Features:

Keyed notes are stored in a master database (.mdb) file and the user can add, delete, and/or modify the keyed notes master file when needed.

The default Keynotes.mdb file that ships with the software contains 1192 keyed notes that are based on the current Construction Specification Index (CSI).  Additional notes, division, and sections may be added to the file by the user.

The Keynotes Database may be edited by the user and the notes may be in a custom format.

The Keyed Note Tag utilizes the AutoCAD Leader Object as the pointer.

A Keyed notes legend is automatically inserted on each sheet at a designated location.  The Keyed Notes Legend may be inserted in Model or Paper Space.  The legend width may be specified by the user and if the note is too long to fit the legend width, the note will wrap.  The legend will be updated automatically as notes are added to the drawing.  The legend is maintained in ascending order based on the index and note number.  A command is provided for automatically updating the legend if someone adds or erases a note from the drawing using AutoCAD COPY or ERASE commands without using the special Keyed Note commands.

An option is provided for sub-dividing the legend with division headers.

A Keyed Note Master List may be added to the drawing set.

The Keynote Application Options Dialog Box:

Note that the user has full control over placement of the Master Legend and Sheet legend, Text Font Style for Keyed Notes, Leader type, Keynote Symbol, and Layering.  The user may also control the location of the Keynotes Database and Settings Files.

Keynote settings may be workstation or project specific.

The delimiter character between the keynote division and section codes is user definable.

The Keynote Manager Dialog:

Selecting a Key Code from the Listbox and picking the Add Keyed Note To Drawing Button will prompt the user for a placement location in the drawing.  The user may then select the leader points and the keyed note will be automatically placed at the end of the leader.  If a legend does not exist in the drawing, a legend will be created based on the options settings and the keyed note will be added to the legend.  If a legend does exist, the note will be added to the legend in ascending order.

Keynotes may be added to the drawing as a Key Code, Key Note, or a user note may be added to the end of the Keyed Note.

This product requires AutoCAD 2002, AutoCAD 2004, 2005, or AutoCAD 2006.

In order to maintain the master Keynote Database, the user must have Microsoft Access 97 or later.  Access is not required on the system that is using the database file to insert keyed notes from the database into the drawing.  Contact ColdStream Software at (803) 781-3967 for information regarding pricing and availability.  unlimited site licenses are available.
