Overview The ColdStream Software Lighting Calculator is a VBA application that runs with AutoCAD 2002. The calculator provides Building Systems Electrical Engineers, Designers, and Drafters with a tool for selecting the number of lights required for a space. The calculator uses the Zonal Cavity Method to calculate the quantity of luminaires. The user may input the room data by:
Ceiling, wall, and floor cavity dimensions may be entered in current drawing units or points may be selected on screen from a section or elevation view. The user may select reflectance factors from a chart or enter custom values in the textboxes. The user may enter luminaire manufacturer's name, model number, lumens per lamp, number of lamps, and coefficient of utilization, and desired footcandle level. Once the required data fields are entered, the program will calculate the number of luminaires needed to meet the requirements. The user may also enter the desired number of luminaires and have the program calculate the resulting footcandles.
Once the calculations are made, the user may save the information and print it to Screen, output it to a comma delimited (CSV) file that can be opened in Excel, or output it to an ASCII text file. All calculations are recorded for later recall so the user can get a printout of all lighting calculations for the current drawing at any time.
